Best Soul Food in North Carolina

Tore that FOOD UP!! My lawd! The kitchen chefs KNOW what they doing. Food seasoned very well. Perfect fried fish, hamburger gravy, THAT MAC N CHEESE, and the string beans on point! Passed through from Atlanta..stopped by funeral home and they recommended Tru Soul for GOOD southern soul cooking. Thank you! Keep up the good cooking and service. The restaurant coordinates private events as well with amazing event designs.

What a wonderful Juneteenth experience! Tru Soul Food was an unplanned stop that became a highlight of our day. I was proud to support this restaurant on Juneteenth. The wait was short, the staff was welcoming, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. I ordered the catfish plate and oxtail. The catfish was fresh, crispy, and perfectly seasoned, and the oxtail was flavorful and satisfying. Conveniently located between Virginia and North Carolina, Tru Soul Food is well worth a stop.…

This is by far some of the best southern cooking since my grandmama passed. Exceptional food, pleasant and attentive service, very nice atmosphere. My aunt had her 90th birthday party here. Beautiful decor. Visiting from out of state and we eat here every time we're in the area, twice this time. Do not pass this place by without stopping for lunch or dinner. My favorite is the whole chicken wings, collard greens, Mac n cheese and lemon cake.

Who wants real soul food? I found it a Tru Soul Food! The food is fresh and home cooked. The fried chicken, cabbage, Mac and Cheese, and corn bread amazing. From the time you walk in and your order is taken you feel like family. The staff friendly with the cashier knowledgeable and professional. I rated this as a 5 star because this is the first restaurant in along time that I eaten at and the food was real soul food. The restaurant very clean.
